Another spectacular homecoming was celebrated at LOC this weekend. Alumni from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and Y2K, gathered on the campus to celebrate the rich history of the only HBCU in Memphis.
The Alumni festivities kicked-off with an Alumni Mixer on Friday, Oct. 26 in Brownlee Hall. President Andrea Miller shared in the excitement of connecting and dancing with Alumni from the 1990’s.
Brownlee Hall was filled with Greeks, faculty, current students and LOC staff members. We enjoyed the food, fun and fellowship with one another.
Jamillah Hughes, '99 said, “LeMoyne-Owen made me who I am today"
"I heard this statement all weekend," said Hughes.
"This statement rang true to me and ignited a passion to re-engage with my dear alma mater. I paid my Alumni dues and decided I would stay involved and encourage others to become active in the LOCNAA! I carried this passion throughout the entire weekend with my college roommate and bestie! I reconnected with old friends, Sorors, classmates and current students!"
"I laughed, danced, reminisced, and captured memories! I partied at the Alumni mixer and gangsta walked with my 90’s classmates. I tailgated then cheered our basketball teams to double victories. My night ended full circle when my taste for wings led me to Crumpy's of which the owner is a proud Alumni!,"added Hughes.
When it was time for me to leave on Sunday, I was already looking forward to LOC Homecoming 2019!
My goal is to now get the rest of my classmates to re-engage, join the Alumni and make LOC Homecoming 2019 even better!"
On behalf of the National Alumni Association, we want to thank all Alumni for attending all the events this weekend.
We look forward to working with each of you as we move our College forward. Visit the Alumni website @ locnaa.com to get updated information about the Alumni Association.
